Los Angeles, California

A newsletter service for Los Angeles businesses, run from Florida.

We are in Fort Lauderdale and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we do for Los Angeles clients is written, designed, printed and mailed the same way it is for everyone else, because none of it needs a person standing in the room.

Los Angeles is not one market. It behaves like dozens.

A practice in Westchester and a practice in Eagle Rock are not competitors. They are barely in the same economy. Most businesses here draw from a radius measured in surface streets and tolerable drive times, and a freeway between two neighborhoods works as much like a wall as a road.

That fragmentation is why so much Los Angeles marketing underperforms. Money gets spent reaching a metropolitan area when the business can only serve a slice of it, and the slice it can serve is already full of people who have heard of it. The audience worth paying for is smaller and closer than the map suggests.

Buying strangers is more expensive here than almost anywhere.

Paid search in Los Angeles is among the most expensive in the country, particularly in the categories where a single client is worth thousands — legal, medical, financial, home services. We are not going to put a cost per click on this page, because the number moves weekly and any figure we printed would be wrong by the time you read it. You already know what you pay.

The consequence is what matters. When it costs that much to get a stranger to raise a hand, letting a past client forget you is not a small loss. It is throwing away the most expensive thing you have ever bought.

Advertising rents an audience. A newsletter is the only marketing that spends on people you already paid to acquire.

Blue Ocean Strategies

The list you already own is the asset nobody works.

Almost every Los Angeles business we talk to has one. Past clients, old inquiries, people who came to one thing and liked it, referral sources who used to send work and quietly stopped. It sits in a CRM nobody logs into, or in three exports on a laptop.

Nobody stops referring you on purpose. They stop thinking about you, because in a city this loud somebody else showed up more recently. A newsletter is a scheduled reason to be in front of that list without asking for anything, twelve times a year. That is the whole mechanism, and it does not get outbid at auction.

There is no Los Angeles office, and we are not going to invent one.

Blue Ocean Strategies is run out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We cannot come to your office in Culver City, and any agency page telling you it will is either not local either or hoping you do not check.

Here is why it works anyway. The monthly interview is a phone or video call. Approvals happen by email. Printing and mailing run through a production partner who ships to your list, not to us. A piece of mail reaches an address in Los Angeles the same way it reaches one in Boca Raton. We already do this for clients in California and fourteen other states, and none of them have met us.

If what you need is somebody physically present — a photographer on site, a person in your team meeting every week — hire locally. We will say that on the call rather than take the work and disappoint you slowly.

What we produce every month.

The flagship is a four-page newsletter, ghostwritten in your voice from a twenty-minute interview. It goes out as print and mail if you want that, as a digital flipbook you can text and link to, and as an email edition the same week.

Around it sits the follow-up machinery, because in a market this expensive the leads you already generate are worth protecting before you buy more.

  • Print and digital newsletters, monthly or every other month.
  • Email campaigns and automated sequences off the same content.
  • GoHighLevel CRM, pipelines and missed-call text-back.
  • Google, Meta and YouTube advertising, above a real minimum budget.
  • AI receptionists, booking agents, chat widgets and intake automation.
  • Basic web, blog and local SEO.

Print in Los Angeles is a decision, not a default.

A large share of this city lives in apartments and condominiums, and a bank of lobby mail slots is a harsher environment for a printed newsletter than a house with a box at the curb. We will not pretend otherwise to sell you a mailing.

Two things keep print on the table. Business addresses get opened by someone whose job is to open mail, so professional and B2B lists behave completely differently from residential ones. And the single-family neighborhoods on the eastern and western edges of the county read mail much the way the rest of the country does. If your list is mostly apartment addresses, digital only is the better buy and it costs less.

Print and postage are billed to you at cost with no markup from us. On a large Los Angeles list that can be the bigger half of the month, and you should see it as its own line rather than blended into a retainer.

Three hours ahead, which is a small and real advantage.

We start work before Los Angeles wakes up. A proof sent at the end of our day is in your inbox before your first meeting, and something raised at nine in the morning your time lands in the middle of our afternoon rather than at the end of it.

That is the whole of the time-zone argument. It is not a reason to hire anyone by itself, but it is the opposite of the problem people expect.

What we do not do, and one thing worth mentioning.

We do not do social media management. No posting, no community management, no content calendar for your Instagram. In a city with this much creative talent for hire that is a gap you should know about before you call.

On privacy: California has some of the strictest consumer privacy law in the country, and a marketing vendor should be mindful of it. We keep your list in your accounts, we honor unsubscribes and deletion requests promptly, and we do not buy or sell data. What we do not do is tell you whether your business is covered or certify you as compliant. That is a question for your lawyer, and we will say so.

Everything is opened in your name and stays yours — the list, the domain, the ad accounts, the CRM and the artwork. If you leave, you leave with all of it.

Questions

The things people ask before they hire us.

Because almost none of this work needs anyone in the room. The interview is a call, the proof arrives by email, and the printer mails to your list rather than to us. We already run it for clients in California and fourteen other states.

Not in Los Angeles, no, and we would rather say that plainly than list an address we do not sit at. Everything happens by phone, video and email. If a project genuinely needs someone on site, a local shop is the better buy.

It works the other way. We are three hours ahead, so work is underway before your morning starts and proofs are usually waiting when you sit down.

It depends entirely on your list. Business and single-family residential addresses read mail well. Apartment lobbies are a rough environment for it. We will look at your actual list and tell you if digital only is the smarter spend.

Yes, above a real minimum monthly budget. Below that there is not enough data to manage a campaign honestly in a market this competitive, and taking the work anyway would just be taking your money.

Your Los Angeles list is worth more than your ad account.

Tell us who is on it and what you sell. We will come back with a plan and a number, and if the honest answer is that you do not need us yet, we will say that.

No pitch deck, no discovery-call gauntlet. One conversation, one straight answer.
